Dealer Services - Senior Credit Analyst

Under general supervision, provide dealer lending services to current members and potential members. Recognize member needs and promote and cross-sell credit union lending and deposit services to members. Ensure all assigned lending activities are in compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

Lending Services to Dealer

  • Conduct interview with dealer members to identify lending needs; collect and compile information relating to member loan applications;
  • including personal financial statements
  • conduct telephone and other credit checks
  • Complete loan documentation for new loans, renewals, loan payment suspensions, alterations and substitutions of security as prescribed by established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure application of appropriate loan rates, service charges and overdue interest; make recommendations concerning loan applications based on established lending principles.
  • Respond to members’ inquiries on lending services offered by providing information on the features of each product and service; resolve routine member problems and concerns with lending services.
  • Provide credit information to other financial institutions; act as joint custodian of loan securities as required.
  • Adhere to legislation and security procedures as they pertain to the position.
  • Grant dealer loan applications within approved lending limits.

Administration and Control

  • Follow up on delinquent accounts as directed by senior lending staff using established collections policies, documents contacts and outcomes; refer unresolved situations to senior staff for further action.
  • Perform routine loan audits as directed; review system-generated loan reports, identify further action required to problem area; initiate action in accordance with established procedures.

Sales, Marketing and Promotion

  • Understand and use knowledge of member’s financial condition to effectively position the value of products and services.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential dealers to strengthen the credit unions’ position in the local economy.
  • Differentiate between credit union and competitor products and services in terms of member needs.
  • Communicate product and service information to secure sale; utilize fact finding questions and technique to offset business objections; ask for sale.
  • Participate in the development and support achievement of sales targets and marketing plans.
  • Cross-sell all credit union products (including insurance services); solicit new members; foster business development through service excellence and product knowledge.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit union lending and deposit products and services

Experience:

  • 1–2 years as an MSR or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years credit experience (preferably in dealer financing)

Education and Training:

  • Grade 12
