The components of Platform Services constitute one of Servus Credit Unions most significant technical resources and are an integral part of the successful business operations of the corporation.

The Systems Administrator II position plays a senior role in the support of Servus Credit Union technical platform and application systems. Responsibilities of this position include design, implementation and maintenance of many primary business process and technical areas. This includes but is not limited to messaging and communications services, file and print services, Active Directory design and management, and platform design supporting corporate applications.

This position will be required to act without supervision while adhering to defined IS policies, procedures, and best practices. At all times provide timely responses to ticketed work, managing requestor expectations, adhering to service level targets, ensuring customer satisfaction and aligning with corporate directions as defined by management.

A primary goal of this position is to support the production environment ensuring Platform Services availability. This position works closely with the IS Risk Management, Infrastructure Services Team, Desktop Support, Service Desk, and Database Administration.

A Systems Administrator II provides a senior role for problem resolution, fosters positive growth, manages projects, has high standards and values, is a source of leadership and guidance, has strong work ethics, and mentors junior employees in various teams. The Systems Administrator II is a Tier 3 support resource capable of solving the most critical issues and is considered an expert in a range of platform enabling technologies.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of proven experience working with Information Technology in a corporate multi-platform, multi-vendor environment
  • Financial sector experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledgeable of Windows 2008, 2012, Windows 7
  • Windows 2003/2008 Server Configuration/Administration experience
  • Have a solid understanding of VMware Virtualization technology.
  • Familiar with vCenter Operations Manager an asset
  • Have a solid understanding of the architecture, design, implementation and management of all aspects of Microsoft Windows operating systems and application services including Active Directory 2008, Exchange 2007/2010, and Lync
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of IS security, and security hardening practices
  • Solid understanding of basic networking and vlan designs and topologies
  • Blackberry Enterprise Server Administration an asset
  • Knowledge to support Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory Migration and other Microsoft Enterprise applications
  • Familiarity with HP products including Data Protector and Remote Copy an asset
  • Knowledge of networking, hardware, software, desktop, Microsoft Office, and excellent knowledge of information systems and security.

Education and Training:

Grade twelve education and a minimum 2 year technical diploma or business degree in Computer Systems / Information Technology.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • ITIL Foundations 3.0 is required
  • At least two CompTIA Certifications from A+, Network+, Security+ and Server+
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
  • Also accepted:
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional, MCITP: Server Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator (or working to achieve certification)
  • VMware Certified Professional, VCP
  • EMC Storage Technologist, EMCST
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician, CCENT
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional, CISSP an asset

Other special requirements:

Weekend or shift work, available to travel, etc.

The business may from time to time ask for branch and/or department support for special projects and/or areas experiencing staff shortages. All employees may be asked to volunteer to assist in areas of need during these times. These assignments could result in a change of hours, location, and/or travel.
