Network Analyst I

Under broad managerial direction, provide leadership and intermediate-level expertise in the research, analysis, planning, design, installation, development, implementation, maintenance, support and overall utilization of the technological infrastructure to meet credit union needs. Provide on-call support as required. Work with users and Management to define system requirements and resolve problems.

The work involves unique multi-functional and highly technical problems and issues related to supporting voice and data communications, networking, systems operation and systems access and security. Projects regularly have enterprise-wide impact and abstract reasoning and an organized approach to executing are essential to ensure that technology meets the credit union’s on-going business needs.

Systems Administration & Support

  • Research, plan, implement, test and debug all network operating systems (NOS) utilized on network.
  • Develop staff procedures and technical documentation for administration of network operating systems and hardware.
  • Prioritize and provide support for incidents and user issues.
  • Maintain infrastructure and perform other activities to ensure the integrity and optimize the speed of processing for Production, Test and Development environments as needed.
  • Research and recommend the purchase of hardware/software for the ongoing administration and maintenance of systems.
  • Test and configure network operating system and application upgrades and maintenance.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide statistics and reports.

Security and Integrity Administration & Reporting

  • Administer and monitor security technologies and procedures – e.g. Firewall, Routers, Switches, IDS/IPS, VPN.
  • Test and configure security infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
  • Provide reports to Management as requested/required (e.g. – performance, usage, violation, etc.).
  • Administer disaster recovery processes as needed.

Network Communication Systems Administration & Support

  • Administrate entire telecommunications infrastructure and its associated software, including PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems.
  • Ensure integrity, reliability and optimum performance of external and internal voice and data communication network components.
  • Work with internal and external telecommunication systems.
  • Test and configure, and co-ordinate network infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
  • Analyze, diagnose and resolve network problems.
  • Administration of network supplemental servers.
  • Ensure that capacity planning is conducted with adequate time to implement enhancements for all infrastructure elements.

Project Management

  • Lead technical projects as assigned.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to business-led projects as required.

Department/Work Unit/Credit Union Support

  • Provide input into organizational planning and budgeting for hardware/software needs.
  • Provide support, direction, training, coaching and problem solving to team members.
  • Participate actively in department/work unit/credit union meetings.

Experience:

  • Knowledge is generally acquired by having completed an undergraduate degree or technical college diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering and 3 or more years’ technical I.S. related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous CU experience is an asset.
  • Experience should include a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated infrastructure support experience ideally in a service-based industry.

Education and Training:

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) recent technical certification [Cisco preferred], with two (2) recent technical certifications highly desirable, combined with A+ certification or a strong background working with hardware and networking components.

Any other special requirements necessary to do the job:

On-call availability for up to 10 days per month. Sitting for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components. Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as servers and network equipment. Weekend or shift work, available to travel, etc.

The business may from time to time ask for branch and/or department support for special projects and/or areas experiencing staff shortages. All employees may be asked to volunteer to assist in areas of need during these times. These assignments could result in a change of hours, location, and/or travel.
