Garth Warner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Servus Credit Union, announced two new appointments to the Executive Leadership Team effective September 1, 2018:
- Michelle Belland to the position of Chief Brand and Digital Banking Officer
- Gail Stepanik-Keber to the newly created position of Purpose and Innovation Officer
"These changes are part of a carefully planned transition to ensure continued, capable leadership to guide our credit union into the future," stated Mr. Warner. "I believe a credit union is a generational trust that we are obligated to nurture for current and future members, employees and society. We are ensuring strong management continuity to achieve our purpose – shaping member financial fitness."
Ms. Belland joined Servus in 2010 and was most recently the Senior Vice President Marketing and Digital Banking. She also served as Acting Chief Brand and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer in 2013. Prior to joining Servus, Michelle held executive roles in a number of different industries including telecommunications, transportation and retirement housing. She is interested in corporate governance and acquired her ICD.D designation in 2016. Michelle has been instrumental in bringing consumer and digital insights to Servus. Her new responsibilities will include marketing, insights, digital banking, public relations and community engagement.
Ms. Stepanik-Keber moves to the new role of Purpose and Innovation Officer after 20 years of building and leading the strategic functional areas of marketing, communications, corporate social responsibility, digital banking and market insights at Servus. Her 30 years of leadership experience includes six years as general manager of a marketing communications company in Malaysia. She has a bachelor of commerce from University of Alberta, completed her masters in leadership from Royal Roads University in 2007, and received her ICD.D designation in 2011. Her new role recognizes the importance of innovation to business success and Servus's desire to integrate shaping member financial fitness into the organization's core thinking, behaviours and external partnerships.
Servus has made succession planning and developing talented leaders who believe in cooperative values a priority. The new Executive Leadership Team will include a balance of seasoned and new executives with the skills and experience needed to position the credit union for a successful future.
