Ian Glassford, Chief Financial Officer of Servus Credit Union since 2008, will retire from his position on May 30, 2018.
In making the announcement, Garth Warner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Servus, said "Servus and the entire credit union system will be sorry to see Ian's departure. I have always appreciated his sharp analysis and insights, open mind and sense of humour. I have never met anyone who could match Ian's combined passion for the cooperative business model and his sheer intellectual power to find a way to make it work."
Ian joined what was then Capital City Savings in 1993. He became a member of the Leadership team in 1997 and CFO of the newly formed Servus Credit Union in 2008. At various times he has been responsible for Marketing, Human Resources, Centralized Services, Accounting, Treasury, Financial Analysis, Wealth Management and Strategy.
Ian's contributions to the credit union system include serving on the Board of Directors of Credential Financial and the Board of Directors of Credit Union Central of Alberta. He was on the Financial Management Curriculum Committee of the Credit Union Institute of Canada. He has also "hiked the hill" of Parliament lobbying on behalf of credit unions, and assisted with the development of policy and positions at many levels.
Ian has agreed to work on special projects for Servus after his retirement date. Servus is now working on the recruitment plan for a new CFO.
