Top-Up Savings

Adding small contributions to your savings adds up!

Top-Up Savings is a new online banking tool to turn your spending habits into savings. Every time you use your Member Card, you can "top up" your purchase (on point-of-sale transactions) to add  to your savings account. You won't even notice these small amounts added to your purchases and building your savings.

FAQs

What is the difference between the rounded and fixed options?

The "Fixed Top-Up" will add $1, $2 or $5 to every transaction while "Rounded Top-Ups" will increase each transaction to the nearest multiple of $1, $2 or $5.

Fixed example ($5 fixed top-up preference)
If you spend $1.20 on coffee using your card, we’ll automatically add $5 to your purchase amount, making the total transaction amount $6.20. $1.20 goes towards the coffee purchase and $5 goes into your savings.
$1.20 + $5 = $6.20 ($5 saved)

Rounded example ($5 rounded top-up preference)
If you spend $1.20 on coffee using your card, we’ll automatically round up that purchase to the nearest five dollars, making the total transaction $5. $1.20 goes towards the coffee purchase and $3.80 goes into your savings.
$1.20 + $3.80 = $5 ($3.80 saved)

What happens if I have insufficient funds?

Not to worry! If you don't have sufficient funds in your account to cover the total Top-Up amount for the day, we'll only transfer a partial payment leaving your account balance at $0. Your account will not be overdrawn due to a Top-Up.

Also know that pending automatic transfers (loans, bill payments, etc.) will be prioritized over Top-Ups. We don't want to disrupt your finances, we do want to help you save.

I would like to opt out. What do I do?

You can remove your Member Card at any time in the Top-Up Savings dashboard in online banking. Choose "Remove card". You can always add it back in if you want to restart your Top-Ups.

What cards can I use with this feature?

Your Member Card (debit card) used for point-of-sale purchases, is the only eligible card to use with Top-Up Savings. Your Servus Mastercard® credit card is not eligible at this time.

I made a purchase, but I don't see the Top-Up in my savings account—what happened?

Your Top-Ups are transferred at the end of the day as one lump sum. You'll see yesterday's Top-Ups in your account today and today's Top-Ups tomorrow.
