The Group Benefit Advisor is part a dynamic team of employee benefit specialists within the Business Solutions department. The candidate is accountable for the sales and marketing of employee benefit programs and on-going growth of an existing portfolio of employee benefit sponsors/programs. Employee benefit programs include, but not limited to; group RRSP, group TFSA, group Life/Health/Dental, Defined Contribution Pension Plans, Pooled Registered Pension Plans, Deferred Profit Sharing Plans as well as the promotion of payroll solutions. 

The candidate will work collaboratively with all credit union delivery channels. The primary strategic objectives are to source new retail and wealth members, drive new product/program participation, retain existing employee benefit programs and participants/group members, retain and grow stable deposits, increase other income, and solidify existing business member relationships.

Sales and Financial Performance

  • Develop and implement an annual sales and marketing plan to acquire new employer sponsored benefit programs and participants, retain and grow existing employer sponsored programs, retain and grow employee participation and contribution/other income levels that align with corporate and departmental goals.
  • Work with internal partners to cultivate and develop new business opportunities.
  • Develop and present written proposals in response to new business opportunities.
  • Negotiate program benefits within authorized limits.
  • Work with specialists when necessary in the design, development and acquisition of employee benefit programs.
  • Identify and promote other beneficial services actively by generating referrals to other operational areas.
  • Track and report business activities and results.

Member Experience

  • Manage new business opportunity pipeline and referral partners effectively.
  • Provide an advice based experience to assist plan sponsors with employee loyalty and retention.
  • Ensure sponsors have all of the required promotional/enrolment materials on hand.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to enhance program awareness and participation with plan sponsors and their employees.
  • Manage enrolment of new participants into applicable default option.
  • Coordinate the implementation/boarding of new employer sponsored programs and services.
  • Conduct regular program reviews with sponsors and develop/implement action plans to respond to review outcomes.
  • Work with other Servus departments and specialists to coordinate and provide financial planning/educational seminars.
  • Ensure sponsors are aware of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Work with other internal relationship partners on the overall management of the relationship and keep them current on program status. 
  • Participate in industry related events and prospective/existing sponsor functions as an ambassador of the credit union.
  • Coordinate de-boarding process of employer sponsored programs and services.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all contacts.

Business Process

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge on industry and the competitive environment.
  • Make recommendations for new products and collateral support materials.
  • Participate in developing strategies that improve workflow, reporting and business processes with regards to plan remittances and participant enrolment and boarding.

Employee Experience

  • Attend select internal partner meetings to enhance employee awareness.
  • Mentor other team members and provide guidance and support.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales and marketing of financial services.
  • Experience working with the Business Sector and marketing employee benefit programs.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements. 

Education and Training:

  • University degree or college diploma in business or equivalent combination of experience and industry designations.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Mutual Fund License
  • Completion of the Life Licence Qualification Program (LLQP) and ability to be life licensed in mutually agreed upon time frame.
  • Employee Benefit Industry related designations such as CEBS speciality designations, RPA and GBA. Willingness to complete in mutually agreed upon time frame.
  • Financial planning designation (CFP, PFP, FMA) or other industry designations are an asset.

Other Special Requirements:

Travel within designated regions is required. Occasional overnight trip may be required. Valid driver’s license is necessary.
